Refurbishment of Ramada Manchester Piccadilly Hotel now complete

Manchester, 19th March 2009 – Jones Lang LaSalle has announced the successful completion of the £17 million refurbishment of the landmark Ramada Manchester Piccadilly Hotel in central Manchester.

The property consultancy’s Project & Development Services team was appointed by Jarvis Hotels as project and cost managers on the project which included the full refurbishment of all 280 bedrooms, together with public areas, entertainment and welfare facilities, back of house accommodation and the M&E services infrastructure. Additionally, the external façade of the building was extensively upgraded.

Andrew King, director of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Project & Development Services, team, said: “One of the main challenges we faced was the management of the construction logistics due to the limited access and storage facilities available on site. In all, the entire refurbishment was successfully undertaken over a 17 month period during which time the hotel remained fully operational throughout.”

In order to facilitate the partnering form of contract adopted on the scheme, Jones Lang LaSalle deployed a full time project manager on site to ensure the successful co-ordination of the works between the hotel’s management team, the design team, contractors and Bruntwood, the building’s landlord.

This project formed part of a national refurbishment roll out programme which encompassed 33 hotels, which Jones Lang LaSalle project managed on behalf of its client.
