Terms agreed with Pure Gym to open 17,000 sq ft facility in Harrogate

Leeds, 18 March 2013 - Gregory Projects Ltd, advised by Jones Lang LaSalle, has agreed terms for Yorkshire based affordable fitness chain, Pure Gym, to open a new 17,000 sq ft facility at Tower Street site in Harrogate town centre.

The announcement comes just weeks after Gregory Projects successfully secured planning and conservation approvals to redevelop the dilapidated Harrogate town centre site that was formerly a bowling alley. It also follows on from the deal with Travelodge, who has agreed to operate a 70-bedroom hotel and restaurant prior to planning approval, meaning that the 35,000 sq ft mixed-used scheme is now fully let ahead of redevelopment works which are due to commence in June this year.

Nick Ferris, director, Jones Lang LaSalle’s Retail & Leisure team based in Leeds, added: “The fact that we have successfully attracted two active and well-known brands in the form of Travelodge and Pure Gym is testament to the quality of the location, being so close to the heart of Harrogate town centre but also accessible for future customers/members.”

Angela Crawshaw, Property Director at Pure Gym, which is currently the fastest growing gym chain in the UK, said: "Pure Gym is delighted to be working with Gregory Properties again and excited to be bringing low cost fitness to Harrogate. This is a great opportunity to prove to people that access to a high quality gym with 24/7 access doesn’t have to cost a fortune.”
