Clarion becomes first IFSD to secure twin top environmental rankings



Glasgow, 14 April 2009 - IVG Investments and BAM Properties’ Clarion building has become the first building within the International Financial Services District (IFSD) to achieve two top environmental rankings.

Clarion, at 29 Wellington Street, Glasgow, has secured an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM ranking from the Building Research Establishment, and the property has also secured a B+ Energy Performance Certificate rating.

Joint property agents Jones Lang LaSalle and Ryden, say the two top environmental rankings have been achieved because of Clarion’s environmental and efficiency systems aimed at reducing CO2 emissions.

Features include an automatic lighting system which will turn down the interior lights to balance out the sunlight entering the space, and office lighting will switch off completely when unoccupied thanks to a range of sensors.

Clarion offers 77,000 sq ft of Grade A office space over 10 floors, and can cater for requirements from 4,700 sq ft, offering the occupier modern, flexible office space. The development, which is being built by BAM Construction, completes during September.

Alistair Reid from Jones Lang LaSalle’s Glasgow office said: “Occupiers are looking for not only high specification space but also the highest standards of energy efficiency and sustainability, the Clarion building is now one of the few Grade A offices in Scotland that meets this criteria.”
Ken McInnes from Ryden said: “Ultimately in times of cost saving, Clarion’s efficiency innovations result in lower running costs and a reduced impact on the environment.”

BAM Properties has achieved a 100% record in obtaining an ‘Excellent’ or ‘Very Good’ rating from the Building Research Establishment.
