Bright-spark business plugs in to city trading estate

YESSS Electrical gain Glasgow foothold with new premises

Baird StreetGlasgow, 4 July 2013 - Expanding national trade retailer YESSS Electrical is to open near Glasgow city centre after a deal handled by Jones Lang LaSalle, acting jointly with FG Burnett on behalf of Legal and General’s Industrial Property Investment Fund (IPIF).

The 5,532 sq ft trade counter property at Baird Street Trading Estate, in close proximity to the north of Glasgow city centre and adjacent to Junction 15 of the M8 motorway, will be the company’s tenth Scottish branch.

YESSS Electrical retail to building and related trades, and have 400 branches across continental Europe. The business, which has 50 years experience in the electrical wholesale industry, is currently expanding across the UK and operate from a distribution centre in West Yorkshire.

Other Scottish branches due to open in 2013 include Livingston, Motherwell and Airdrie, which in addition to Baird Street will give the company a solid footing in the country. An Ayr branch opened in May.

The company agreed a 10-year lease on unit six at Baird Street Trading Estate and are paying an initial headline rental rate of £30,500 per annum. Existing occupiers at Baird Street include Royal Mail, Staples, Capital Hair and Beauty and RS Components.

Paul Sweeney, at Jones Lang LaSalle, who handled the letting for IPIF, commented: “Unit six presented a good opportunity for YESSS due to its highly visible roadside location and its proximity to Glasgow city centre. YESSS will be joining many other well established businesses at Baird Street Trading Estate, which is now 100% occupied.”

Adrian O’Donohue, of YESSS Electrical, added: “We are delighted to have secured this premises at Baird Street Trading Estate, which will be our tenth Scottish branch. The property gives us the prominence and visibility we require, and will become one of our flagship branches.”
