Jones Lang LaSalle appointed managing agent for The Charles Darwin, Pride Hill and Riverside Shopping Centres in Shrewsbury


London, 25th August 2010 – Jones Lang LaSalle has underlined its credentials as the leading shopping centre property management team in the UK after being appointed by Ignis Asset Management and the UK Commercial Property Trust to manage Shrewsbury’s core shopping centres.

Jones Lang LaSalle’s Shopping Centre Management team has taken on a full property management role for the 123 retail units with a net internal area of 464,282 sq ft.  The properties are situated in the centre of Shrewsbury with both Darwin and Pride Hill Shopping Centres fronting onto the main retail location of Pride Hill.  Key anchor tenants include TK Maxx, H&M, Marks & Spencer, New Look, HMV and Next. 

Susannah Jeffs, associate director in Jones Lang LaSalle’s Shopping Centre Management team, said: “The Darwin, Pride Hill and Riverside Shopping Centres dominate Shrewsbury’s retail offer, providing approximately 43% of the town’s retail space, making them a significant addition to the portfolio of properties which our Shopping Centre team already manages.
 
“We will be working closely with the team at Ignis Asset Management and the Shearer Property Group to actively manage these assets.”
 
Jones Lang LaSalle's retail agency team has also been instructed joint leasing agents with twentyretail.

Notes to Editors:
  • The Darwin Shopping Centre extends to 189,316 sq ft (17,588 sq m), which is fully enclosed, trades over three levels and includes 53 shop units and six kiosks. Tenants include TK Maxx, River Island, Currys Digital, Topshop and Laura Ashley.
  • The Pride Hill Shopping Centre extends to 105,823 sq ft (9,831 sq m), which is fully enclosed, trades over three levels and includes 25 shop units and 19 kiosks. Tenants include Next, New Look, HMV. The centre provides the link between Pride Hill and Riverside Mall.
  • The Riverside Mall extends to 123,251 sq ft (11,450 sq m), which is partly enclosed, trades over ground and first floor level and includes 19 shop units, 1 kiosk and a nightclub. This scheme was linked with the Pride Hill Centre in 1993. Tenants include Wilkinson, Somerfield and TJ Hughes.
