Jones Lang LaSalle’s Manchester team saddles up for Coast to Castle charity challenge

Team set to complete arduous 200 mile cycle ride in aid of Help the Hospices

Manchester, 14th September 2010 – A team of eight colleagues from Jones Lang LaSalle’s Manchester office will set off tomorrow morning (Wednesday 15th September) to cycle the gruelling 200 mile Coast to Castle bike challenge to help raise money for the firm’s national charity partner Help the Hospices.

Swapping Manchester’s commercial property skyline for the spectacular scenery of the Northumberland and Scottish coastlines, the agents saddle-up in Newcastle tomorrow morning and after three days of cycling are due to arrive in Edinburgh on Friday.  Their challenge forms part of Jones Lang LaSalle’s national fundraising for its charity partner to help add to the £70k already raised so far by the firm for Help the Hospices.

Jonathan Mills, head of Jones Lang LaSalle’s National Investment team in Manchester and one of the cyclists, said: “Last year a number of us decided to undertake a serious fundraising event which would challenge us both mentally and physically and which culminated in us successfully completing the Cost to Coast cycle route; a 150-mile ride from Whitehaven to Tynemouth in Tyne and Wear.”

Jonathan continued: “Our starting point for this year's Coast to Castle cycle ride is Newcastle-upon-Tyne, which was where we finished last year’s challenge and the route will ultimately bring us onto the Royal Mile and the finishing post at Edinburgh Castle.  I am confident we have all put in as much training as possible and, given it’s the second consecutive year many of us are taking part, hopefully the gruelling terrain won’t come as such as shock to the system.”
