Planning and policy advice for biomass renewable energy plants
Forth EnergyCHALLENGE Acted as Lead and Planning Consultant on the development of four 120MWe biomass plants at the ports of Dundee, Leith, Rosyth and Grangemouth. The project represents a £1.7bn investment in renewable energy infrastructure and would have a total energy capacity of up to 500MW. To provide planning and renewable energy policy input to the four Environmental Impact Assessment documents and Planning Statements in support of the four Section 36 Applications.SOLUTION Co-ordinated the preparation of the Environmental Statement (ES) documents for the section 36 applications. Provided planning and renewable energy policy input for the ES chapters and assisted with the legal review of the final ES documents. Prepared detailed Planning Policy Statements lodged in support of each of the Section 36 Applications.RESULTS The four s.36 Applications have been accepted and validated by the Scottish Government. The Councils have yet to state whether they will support or object to the Applications.
