Successfully securing planning permission for a new housing development for Origin Housing Group.
Successfully securing planning permission for a new 42 apartment, eight storey development for Origin Housing Group, in the London Borough of Camden. The site was formerly a plant hire business and the existing buildings single storey in nature. Consequently, there was a small but vocal level of local opposition to the proposal in relation to the loss of employment floorspace and the height and quantum of development proposed.
JLL's Planning team undertook a public consultation exercise informing local people and residents groups that the scheme was coming forward and inviting them to public consultation events. Along with this we also worked closely with officers at the Council to ensure a response to any concerns raised and that the design of the proposal would be acceptable.
We ensured the scheme made the best use of this constrained site to provide a mix of high quality private and affordable housing for residents in Camden and consists of a mix of 1, 2, 3 & 4 bedroom flats. Three of the larger ground floor apartments are fully wheelchair accessible, meeting an identified need in the Borough.
PassiveHaus technology and other sustainable design principles were used to ensure that the buildings reduce carbon emissions and the on-going running costs for residents of the new dwellings. Each unit also benefits from a balcony or private garden as well as shared amenity space and a designated cycle storage space with a further five visitor spaces provided across the scheme.
